Every one of you have some people around, who are dedicated to Adyge or Circassian culture. These people, of whom their number shrinks day by day, is encountered by you sometimes as a xase chariman, sometimes as a web site owner. They expect nothing, all their wish is you not to forget about your culture, roots, values. *: "Uzunyayla Belgeseli" means Uzunyayla Documentary in Turkish.
The subject of this article is one of these "culture volunteers", and is from our close relatives, the Agaches. Maybe some of you already know, maybe some will meet for the first time. Agache Zeki Erkus, travels nearly all the Uzunyayla villages with his uncle and prepares a documentary about the Circassian culture in Turkey. Especially he makes conversations with the elders and records their unforgettable memoirs about old Circassian lifestyle. He makes us remember our lovely Uzunyayla. Not with one or two, twelwe episodes are prepared already each of which last at least one hour. Can you imagine the effort for preparing such a film, translating it, putting subtitles? And all these are for an uncommercial documentary film. Every episode includes information about Circassian culture. Only thing that we can do is saluting this very people for this effort. One of the most shaking parts of the documentary is the sentence "this work is dedicated to the loneliness of Uzunyayla", which really all who saw Uzunyayla will agree. Yeniyapan is not on the documentary (yet) but Kazancik can be seen on episode-9. We thank Agache Zeki Erkus for this job he did. Let Allah be with him. You can access the documentary from the address www.agacezeki.com. Notes for readers out of Turkey: 1. Uzunyayla is the place between Sivas and Kayseri cities, where nearly all the villages are Circassian villages. Most of the villages mentioned on the documentary are connected to Pinarbasi, or with the previous name Aziziye. 2. If anybody around you knows Circassian language, you can understand the documentary as a lot of it is in Circassian. |
